- June and Her Sweet Love -

---

If June only knew of all the days I've made it through...

because of June and her sweet love.

I wish that I could count the times...

peace and comfort filled my mind.

Because of June and her sweet love.

---

June, you're the spark in my life and the sun that lights my sky.

The rose that blooms in winter, the rains that cool July.

Never try to tell me it wasn't God above...

that sent me June and her sweet love.

---

Thoughts of June so very often, fill my daytime dreams...

thoughts of Precious June and her sweet love.

In the night though we're apart, there's a fullness in my heart.

Thanks to June and her sweet love.

---

June, you're the rock I cling to, the star I wish upon.

The sweetness in my desert, the wine in my fantasizing.

Never try to tell me that it wasn't God above...

That sent me June and her sweet love.

That sent me June and her sweet love.

June and Stan 2002

The original lyrics to “You and Your Sweet Love” were extensively revised and modified by Stan to be a loving tribute to June and her sweet love and to their never ending marriage…

The original lyrics were written by Bill Anderson and first introduced as a single by Connie Smith in October 1969. It became a hit song that year…George Jones also later introduced it as did others…

June and Stan’s Life – A Providential Appointment

---

Stan has always felt that June and their relationship was a providential appointment…that it was more than a simple blessing…When June became a part of Stan's life, it was as if Stan had just won the “Lottery of Life”... but it was God that gave Stan the winning tickets…

One might ask why would God give June and Stan such a great gift while others who have had failed marriages or affairs of the heart and do not appear to have received such a special blessings…this is a question that we will never know the answer to…perhaps it was because June asked for God’s help through prayer…June had just come out of a heart wrenching affair in which she was the innocent victim…Stan had personally been through two failed love affairs during the first 3 years of his Korean War service days. Stan had just received his 2nd “Dear John” letter a few months before meeting June...

Why would God pick Stan to spend a lifetime with June…Stan was a self proclaimed Agnostic nearing the end of his military service, and a man with an uncertain and a questionable future...perhaps God could look ahead and could see how June would change Stan from an Agnostic to a believing Christian…Perhaps God could see that June as a strong and active Christian would be a target for Satan...that she would become a victim of Alzheimer’s…that God could also see that Stan would stand by and care for June throughout her 12 year journey into the darkness of Alzheimer’s...that Stan would later honor and love June for the rest of his days here on earth…

Whatever the reasons, Stan will be forever indebted to God for the great gift of placing June in his life and forever changing his life for the better…June and her sweet love..

Photo Notes

(1.) The first picture at the top of the page is a copy of June's first gift to Stan for Christmas in 1951...this was in the days that color photographs were very uncommon...this 8 x 10 photograph was originally black and white but the photographer hand painted in the colors and such pictures were expensive...the back  of the photograph has the original instructions for the artist such as  color of June's eyes and hair and dress.

(2.) (Bottom photo was taken in May of 2002 when June was in her 6th year of Alzheimer's but still doing well with her short term memory the biggest problem...it was in August of that year that June and Stan celebrated their 50th anniversary at a big party arranged for them by their daughter Julie...June continued to do well through most of her 7th year...thereafter it was all down hill.

June's Passing

June 1994

After an almost 12 year journey into the shadows of Alzheimer's, early one morning in late October 2008, an exhausted June felt God's gentle touch on her shoulder and heard the words: "Come Home June!" As June lay like a wounded soldier on a battlefield, it was God's Angels that ushered June into a Heavenly Kingdom to the sound of a chorus of Angels...and into June's new home, a "Mansion on the Hilltop", where there is no pain, nor illness nor tears...June's funeral notice as published in the Minneapolis Star in October 2008 can be seen on this website in the drop down menu under the "In Memoriam" label - just Click on:
