"Nothing In This World..."

Stan and June Feb 2012

(From the heart of Stanton Berg in loving memory of his late wife, June Berg)

(by Dianne Cogar - Legacy Poet -2012)

---

"Nothing in This World..."

---

Nothing in this world could take your love away,

Nothing can compare, not even to this day.

Nothing is so beautiful or so soothing to my heart...

For what we have was heaven sent right from the very start.

---

June, you're now the sunshine that glistens on my face,

You're every raindrop that I feel and every starlight's trace.

Though the nights are long and lonely, you're still in my heart...

There's nothing in this world that could keep our love apart.

 ---

June, you are like an angel that God had sent to me,

long long before your journey home to live eternally.

Your warm sweet smile with kind eyes, they swept my heart away...

And I trust God will place your hand on mine again some day.

---

June you are my only love, though now this life will be -

A song that's branded in my heart for all the world to see.

But as I wait, and as I wonder, before we meet again...

I'll spread the word of love with joy... you were my trusted friend.

---

The sound of your name is beautiful, although it  breaks my heart,

But I am strong because of you... I have been from the start!

I am your forever husband, your sweetheart, and your friend,

Please wait for me at heavens gate, pray God will let me in...

---

...to hold you in my arms again, to love you just as much,

to look deep in your caring eyes, to feel your tender touch.

I thank God now, for making us a pair...

For nothing in this big, big world is as beautiful or so rare!

June and Stan 2002

Stan's Notes: The above photo of June and myself was taken in May of 2002. This was the year of our 50th anniversary. June was into her 6th year of Alzheimer's but still doing well. We were still traveling together to forensic science conferences and doing all we could in  the time that remained for us. It was late in the 7th year (2003) that Alzheime's started taking control of our lives with gradual changes in June's personality. As we progressed through the 8th year, (2004) I begain to lose June, tear drop by tear drop. It was in the 9th year (2005) that June had to be placed in an Alzheimer's facility to assist with her care...thereafter June slowly disappeared into the shadows of this terrible disease...into a world where I could no longer reach her...

 Reader’s Comments

Stan’s Introductory Comments: By publishing these “Reader’s Comments,” it is not my intention to in any way suggest that the marriage relationship and the love that June and I had/have for each other and experienced during our lifetime together is in any way superior to similar relationships of other’s. It is merely a collection of the reactions of readers to this page in June’s website. Some are simple appreciative comments; some are generous and kind comments reflecting the care and concern of others. Some comments are a sharing of the reader’s own experiences. Many reflect the love of God. These comments often reflect the human and the caring side of the readers. It is my hope that if June is able to look in on us, that she can see and understand how much I appreciate the love and the life that she gave to me and that I miss her very much…there will never be another to take her place! If anyone is searching for evidence of a caring and loving God, need they look further then these comments?
